Creason Honored with Silver Snoopy Award

HOUSTON, TX—Kevin Creason, lead systems administrator for the International Space Station (ISS) Information Technology (IT) Production Facility, was honored August 18 with the Silver Snoopy Award, recognizing his “outstanding performance, contributing to flight safety and mission success.”

“Your expertise and dedication in support of the IPF Operational Environment are truly exemplary,” wrote Astronaut Rick Sturckow, who formally presented Creason with the award.  “We in the flight end of the business know that success in our space endeavors is measured by the performance of individuals like you,” Sturckow continued.  “The exceptional manner in which you have carried out your responsibilities exceeds normal requirements and demonstrates pride in your work.”

The ISS IT Production Facility is essential for the proper functioning of the ISS’ Mission Evaluation Room and Evaluation Support Rooms, and down time results in loss of critical data, equating to lost time and money.  Creason is one of the key individuals responsible for the design, integration, performance and reliability of these systems.  In his tenure with Johnson Space Center (JSC), he has successfully integrated and deployed numerous components of the ISS IT infrastructure that resulted in quick system recovery and availability, directly supporting the successful completion of the ISS mission.

“Kevin consistently demonstrates his dedication through long hours and timely support to the user community for the ISS IT infrastructure,” said Gary Dockall, Director of the ISS Program Integration and Control (PI&C) IT Organization.  “In his tenure with JSC,” Dockall added, “Kevin has successfully integrated and deployed numerous components that resulted in improved infrastructure performance, availability, and cost savings.”

The Silver Snoopy Award, which “best symbolizes the intent and spirit of Space Flight Awareness,” is designed to recognize those who “significantly contribute beyond their normal work output to Shuttle, payload, or International Space Station programs” via “outstanding” job performance.

Creason’s work was performed under the ISS PI&C Contract, held by ARES Corporation, and the Silver Snoopy is one of a number of recognitions of outstanding performance conferred on ARES this year, including a nomination by JSC as the Small Business Administration’s Region 6 Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year and the conferral of the Space Flight Awareness Leadership Award on ARES’ PI&C Program Manager.
