Control Systems Engineering
ARES Corporation personnel provide control systems engineering services to numerous clients in the government and commercial sectors. The Control Systems Group specializes in the following control systems engineering areas of expertise: Instrumentation and Control System Design, PLC Programming and Industrial Automation, Functional Safety (per ISA 84 – 2004), Software Development and Documentation of Configurable Control System Software in compliance with DOE O 420.1C and 414.1D, ASME NQA-1, Subpart 2.7, and IEEE Consensus Codes and Standards.
Typical scopes of work supported include verifying existing field conditions, creating new drawings to reflect current field conditions, downloading existing code, design of new or replacement control systems, Software QA and Documentation, Programming, and Software V&V.
ARES’ Chemical Engineering Group represents over 80 years of experience ranging from Research & Development, technology development, feasibility assessments and pre-conceptual engineering/design to detailed, Issued for Construction (IFC) design packages and engineering support to construction. Our chemical engineers have designed processing systems ranging in scale from bench to full and can provide complementary services such as Test Plan development, testing oversight, and optimization analysis. The ability to efficiently scale up processes from laboratory or bench scale to engineering or full scale is a basic strength.
ARES Civil Professional Engineers are seasoned experts in the areas of design, construction support, testing, and field installation verification, providing a full range of civil engineering services to clients throughout the United States. ARES has successfully provided Civil and Structural Engineering support to clients in both the government and private sectors on jobs ranging from $100,000 to $400 million.
ARES maintains a team of uniquely qualified Materials and Corrosion Engineers that specialize in resolving corrosion control and asset management issues in the nuclear industry, particularly within the US Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear waste processing and storage community. The team consists of National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Certified Material Selection/Design Specialists and NACE Certified Corrosion Specialists that work to a variety of codes and standards including ANSI/NACE SP0502 and RP0104; API RP 1632; ASTM D4972-01 and G57-06; NACE RP0285-2002, SP0207-2007, TM- 0109-2009, and TM0497-2002; and others.
ARES Corporation is a full-service engineering firm providing clients with a wide range of cost-effective, technical services supporting compliance with Federal and state regulations. We have extensive experience in virtually all aspects of environmental engineering and consulting services: including air and water quality, radioactive and chemical waste management and associated permitting, waste designation, and remediation as well as engineering, operations, and management. ARES products include environmental assessments, draft permit applications, cost and scheduling data support, remedial / corrective action design, calculations, and other technical media.
Since 2008 ARES has assisted Los Alamos National Laboratory in implementing a new safety basis for the SuperBlock Plutonium Facility. ARES has developed programmatic procedures, operating and maintenance procedures, facility design changes, training for engineering and operations, and other tasks as requested. ARES continues to provide these services in support of ongoing changes in the facility.
For a manufacturing client with assets in numerous countries in Asia, ARES implemented improvements in their facility operating and maintenance programs that resulted in significant risk reduction from previous failure events that resulted in losses that neared $1 Billion. Since ARES implemented these changes there have been no significant losses due to these type of failures in the last four years.
