BURLINGAME, CA – ARES Corporation announced a contract to provide its AVERT security optimization software and related assessment services to the Defense Human Resources Activity (DHRA). DHRA will use AVERT to aid in identifying and preempting security threats which, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), have become more frequent and are now at a record high level. AVERT will help DHRA enhance the protection of critical assets and facilities worldwide, serving as a critical tool in analyzing security systems to support the agency in the implementation of its optimal security posture.

As a Department of Defense (DoD) Field Activity, DHRA formulates, executes, and oversees DoD-mandated human resource programs, budgets, policies, and initiatives in support of America’s armed forces. DHRA also provides guidance on the effectiveness of personnel operations, as well as support in the readiness and force protection areas. ARES’ software and services will support DHRA’s Antiterrorism and Force Protection (ATFP) office, which is responsible for protecting DHRA personnel and facilities, at home and abroad.

“As the choice security optimization software for all DoD nuclear facilities worldwide, AVERT has been tested and proven on diverse sites in many environments,” said Steve Fogarty, Vice President of ARES’ Security Software Solutions. “This contract with DHRA is another milestone in the expansion of AVERT’s support and protection of various government agencies.”

AVERT is the only tool of its kind on the market, incorporating security technologies, infrastructure, and personnel into a 3D model to calculate the probability of threat detection and neutralization with quantifiable metrics. With these repeatable metrics, AVERT provides the insight needed to enhance system effectiveness and maximize return on security investments. AVERT has received DHS SAFETY Act certification, which provides users liability indemnification and demonstrates the trust that the Government places in its analytical engine.

AVERT is developed by ARES Corporation, a global technology solutions provider in the Aerospace, Defense, Energy, Construction, Metals/Mining, and Oil/Gas industries. ARES’ clients include government agencies, government contractors, and Fortune 1000 companies. ARES has more than 700 employees in more than 20 offices worldwide.

ARES Employee Receives Rotary National Award for Space Achievement (RNASA)

HOUSTON, TX – ARES Corporation employee Dr. Evgeny Menkin received the mid-career Stellar Award from the Rotary National Award for Space Achievement (RNASA) Foundation in recognition of his outstanding aerospace work. Dr. Menkin has received this honor for his exemplary contributions to visiting vehicle integration: proposing and developing process improvements that increased safety and reliability, reduced costs, and simplified International Space Station (ISS) operations.

“Dr. Menkin has exceeded every expectation with his dedication to the ISS, paving the way for safer, more efficient space exploration,” said Captain Robert Curbeam, Senior Vice President of ARES’ Aerospace and Defense Division and former NASA astronaut. “At ARES, our continued delivery of superior products relies on the enterprising spirit he exemplifies, and this award is a well-deserved recognition.”

As an engineer at ARES Corporation, Dr. Menkin developed new methods of visiting space vehicle docking and undocking to and from the ISS to improve integrated vehicle performance, safety, reliability, and efficiency as part of ARES’ ISS Program Integration and Control (PI&C) contract with NASA’s Johnson Space Center. In light of increased vehicle traffic to the ISS in recent years, Dr. Menkin’s contributions have allowed for the conservation of resources and maintenance of safe practices, both essential to successful ISS operations. For the ISS PI&C contract, ARES also provides business management, configuration management, systems engineering, information technology, and safety and mission assurance support to the International Space Station. ARES’ support combines several of its technology solutions into one cohesive offering that has helped provide hundreds of millions of dollars in cost savings to the U.S. Government and American taxpayer.

ARES Corporation is a global technology solutions provider in the Aerospace, Defense, Energy, Construction, Metals and Mining, and Oil and Gas industries. ARES’ clients include government agencies, government contractors, and Fortune 1000 companies. ARES has more than 700 employees in more than 20 offices worldwide.

As a Risk and Program Management Specialist [...]

WASHINGTON, D.C. – NASA presented ARES employee Thad Gutshall with the Space Flight Awareness Honoree Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to NASA’s Human Space Flight programs. This award is considered to be one of the highest and most prestigious awards available to NASA and industry employees.

As a Risk and Program Management Specialist at ARES, Mr. Gutshall has conducted process analyses to map the key safety and mission assurance (SMA) roles and checks-and-balances that help reduce risks associated with NASA’s space flight programs. Mr. Gutshall has also trained others at NASA to develop these SMA process analysis maps, which feature graphical representations of a program’s SMA plan. Each map identifies organizations, key assurance processes, and personnel who have performed oversight of critical flight systems. Over the past five years, SMA process analysis maps have become essential in helping both the NASA Chief Safety and Mission Assurance Officer and the NASA Chief Engineer prepare to make crucial “Go/No Go” decisions about the readiness of Space Shuttle Missions. This award highlights one offering from ARES’ portfolio of technology solutions as a groundbreaking product that adds clarity and reduces risk within intricate operational and technical processes.

“Thad has been instrumental in the creation and development of process analyses that directly support the NASA Office of Safety and Mission Assurance in preparing for launches,” said Captain Robert Curbeam, Senior Vice President of ARES’ Aerospace and Defense Division and former NASA Astronaut. “I applaud him and I am proud to have team members at ARES with his caliber of innovation and commitment, in this and in all our client efforts.”

Albuquerque, NM – The Department of Homeland Security has certified ARES Corporation’s powerful security enhancement and vulnerability assessment tool, AVERT, as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology under the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002 (the SAFETY Act). This certification demonstrates the Department of Homeland Security’s belief that AVERT can save lives in the event of a terrorist attack and is thus deserving of publicly funded liability coverage, protecting AVERT’s customers in the case of an attack. AVERT is the first and only physical security threat and vulnerability tool to receive this certification.

“AVERT has been protecting some of the United States’ most-critical facilities since 1999, and we are proud to receive this SAFETY Act Designation,” said Dr. William Vantine, President of ARES’ Risk and Technology Solutions Division.
