Be On Schedule and Under Budget with PRISM Project Manager Cost Package
On Schedule and Under Budget are the words that every Project Manager and Client love to hear. That phrase becomes more achievable with the implementation of PRISM Project Manager Cost Package on your project. PRISM Cost Package is an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) that has been validated on several major projects and meets all of the EVM reporting requirement of NASA, the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Defense (DoD). The PRISM Cost Package is currently being used by government agencies, government contractors, engineering companies, construction and construction management contractors and plant owners on projects in virtually all industries and in all parts of the world. Budgeting, progress measurement, performance measurement, earned value cost and schedule analysis, change management, funds management, forecasting and reporting are all made easy with the PRISM Cost Package.

Modular Approach
PRISM Project Manager and the PRISM Cost package are designed with a modular approach. Each module is designed to operate in a stand-alone fashion yet be fully integrated with other modules in the system. This approach allows the user to license and use only the functionality that is required for a particular project. The three modules of the PRISM Cost Package include the Baseline Estimate Module, the Schedule Interface Module and the Cost & Progress Module which are described below.
Baseline Estimate Module
The Baseline Estimate Module is an application used to import detailed estimating data from PRISM Project Estimator or any commercial estimating software or spreadsheet. Regardless of the data source, a challenge lies ahead for cost engineers: how to efficiently take the detailed estimating data and use it to quickly and accurately setup the project’s baseline performance budget. On large projects, with thousands of estimate items to deal with, this challenge is daunting and time consuming. It could take weeks and months to prepare the estimate for cost control. The challenge becomes easy with PRISM and instead of a few weeks the task consumes a few hours. Once the data resides in the Baseline Estimate Module it can be systematically summarized to a level of detail that represents the projects baseline control budget. This module can also be used to condition the estimate for contract packaging. Also group codes may be assigned so the the estimate data may be presented to meet any project or client reporting requirement.

Schedule Interface Module
The Schedule Interface Module is an application used to import schedule activity data from any commercial scheduling software such as Primavera™, SureTrak™, and Microsoft Project®. Schedule dates may also be imported from spreadsheets and database files. It allows you to easily integrate project scheduling data with other detail project data such as estimates for calculating escalation, control accounts for creating cash flow and earned value analysis, process equipment and material deliveries for required at site dates, engineering deliverables for required completion data and purchase orders and contracts for required procurement dates. When the schedule is updated simply import the new current schedule and all links are automatically updated with the new time-phasing.

Cost and Progress Module
The Cost & Progress Module is the heart of the Cost Package and is where the Baseline Estimate and Approved Project Schedule are married to become the Time-phased baseline control budget. Once the control budget is established the project team is ready to start managing the budget and associated project activities. Actual costs for the report period are electronically downloaded from the accounting system, commitments are electronically populated from procurement and contracts, and progress data is generated and entered into PRISM manually or by a data import. With the monthly project data loaded the Project Controls Engineer is now ready to analyze the data for variances to the project plan and recommend corrective actions where indicated. With the data from PRISM you can identify and correct problems before they have an unrecoverable impact on the project. This module also contains a set of standard reports and graphics that are unparalleled in the industry. It's everything you need to keep your project "On Budget and On Schedule".
