Given our extensive track record in the highly technical nuclear industry, we have developed particularly strong expertise in seismic engineering and nuclear equipment qualification and testing, as described below:
- Seismic Engineering. ARES has significant experience performing seismic analyses of nuclear structures, systems, and components. Our expertise in this area spans soil structure interaction, structural degradation assessments, spent nuclear fuel pool degradation and leakage mitigation, and aircraft, bomb blast, high wind, and tsunami impact assessments.
- Nuclear Equipment Qualification and Testing. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has well established standards for the qualification and testing of nuclear equipment. ARES’ staff contains experts in this field and includes individuals who made significant contributions to the development of relevant IEEE standards (one of whom was the former committee chair).
