ARES Technical Services has been selected by NASA for the Safety and Mission Assurance Services III contract — a five-year effort valued at up to $226 million. We are honored to support the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and Wallops Flight Facility. Our team will provide independent surveillance, audits, and assessments that help ensure the success and safety of NASA’s missions from design through launch.

What is the SMAS III Contract?

The NASA GSFC SMAS contract provides support to the GSFC Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Directorate at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). Goddard’s SMA Directorate provides support to GSFC projects in the development of safety and mission assurance requirements, and the independent surveillance, audit, review and assessment of design, development, test, and Mission Operations activities on-site and at supplier facilities.

The SMAS III Contract will be managed as an integrated team, ensuring a seamless work environment. In developing our offer for SMAS III, we ensured that all companies offer a similar benefits and pay structure. Officially, the transition period began on April 7th, 2025 with Contract Start on June 1st, 2025.
